"CMaP in the News"

"We Motivate Communities and Young Minds Through Mapping"

CMaP supports youth, educators and community partners in a process of discovery and learning about their community and its resources.

Together they tackle authentic issues using hands-on resources and mapping technologies, including geographic information systems (GIS), global positioning systems (GPS) and satellite imagery to actively investigate social, economic and ecological systems, identify and solve local problems and develop enduring connections.

Displays, brochures, wall maps, data bases, dynamic GIS maps and web pages are among the products created by CMaP project teams to help the public understand more about where they live and make informed decisions that shape their future.

Youth are enabled to learn new skills and become proficient in math, science and geography, while also contributing informational products of value to their community. Many will be better prepared to enter the workforce as a result of their CMaP project experiences.

Many of CMaP's finished projects, representing the work of CMaP teams across the country, are proudly displayed in our CMaP Gallery.
